Where is the Islander located?
We are conveniently located just over the Emerald Isle bridge! Follow Highway 58 into Emerald Isle – Once you have crossed the bridge, you will turn at the second right onto Islander Drive and follow it to the end. You are now at The Islander!

Is the Islander a hotel?
Essentially, yes. However, we offer more accommodating rooms than your standard hotel! Our standard, deluxe, and standard oceanfront rooms all have kitchenettes with a microwave, mini-fridge, wall-mounted flat screen television and a sitting area with table and chairs! Our corner oceanfront rooms have a full-size refrigerator and a breakfast bar, in addition to other great features!

Is there a minimum age requirement to rent a room?
Yes, you must be 21 to rent a room at the Islander. Photo ID and a valid credit card in your name are also required.

Do you offer any discounts for memberships?
Sure! We offer a 10% discount off regular rates for AAA, AARP and Military Members! As long you have your valid membership ID number when booking and your membership card to present to the Front Desk at arrival, of course.

Wait ... you mentioned different room types? What are the differences between the room types?
Glad you asked! We have a total of 80 rooms at The Islander featuring four different room types on two levels.

  • Our Standard Rooms are on the north end of the hotel and are 365 sq. ft.
  • Our Deluxe Rooms are between the Standard Rooms and the Oceanfront Rooms. They are slightly larger than the Standard Rooms at 415 sq. ft.
  • Our Standard Oceanfront Rooms have oceanfront patios or balconies (depending on what floor you are on!) and are 445 sq. ft.
  • And last, but not least, our Corner Oceanfront Rooms are the largest rooms at the hotel at 650 sq. ft., and feature separate bedroom and living areas and a oceanfront patio or balcony.

Sounds great! Do I have a choice of bed size?
Yes! But it does depend on what room type you choose.

  • If you are in a Standard or Deluxe Room, you have the choice between two double beds or a king bed with a queen sleeper sofa. Rooms with a sleeper sofa configuration also have a partial wall to separate the sitting area from the bed.
  • If you are in a Standard Oceanfront Room, you will have two double beds.
  • If you are in a Corner Oceanfront Room, you will have a king bed in a separate bedroom area and a queen sleeper sofa in the sitting area.

I have to work while I'm at the beach ... Do you have internet service?
Of course! We have free Wi-Fi service available throughout the hotel!

What about my dog? I can't leave Fido at home…
Aww! As much as we love dogs, the Islander has a no pet policy. But there are local kennels and veterinary clinics that will board your dog while you are here!

How do I get to the beach from the hotel? Is it a long walk?
Very simple – the Islander has a private beach walkway right in front of the hotel. Even from a standard room, the walk to the beach is just a couple of moments.

I'm not much for swimming in the ocean. Do you have a pool?
We have an outdoor pool on the east lawn adjacent to the hotel. It is very convenient to the beach access, and features umbrella tables and lounge chairs!

What other amenities do you have on-site?
We have a coin-operated washer and dryer, in case you need to wash something while you're here. We also have an arcade area with pool table, air hockey, and arcade games. Perfect for the kids to play when they're not on the beach or in the pool!

So, what about cooking? Can I cook in my room?
You can microwave! And if you aren't up for that, you can grill! We have grills on-site available for your use on a first-come, first-served basis.

What about roll a ways and cribs – do you have any of those available?
We do! But again, those are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to ask about those when making your reservation.

Can I book just a Friday night?
We do have minimum stay requirements – we require a 2 night minimum on weekends (Friday or Saturday nights) from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We require a 3 night minimum stay over all major holidays. Mid-week and off-season allow single night bookings!

How do I make a reservation?
You can make a reservation on-line, or you can call us at 866-627-9340! If you are more than 45 days from your arrival date, your payment to book is 50% of your reservation total. Your balance is due in full 45 days before your arrival. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Wow, paying in advance? What if I have to cancel?
Due to high demand, we do require payment in advance. If you should find that you have to cancel, please let us know. If you are cancelling more than 48 hours from your check-in time, there is no penalty. If you are cancelling less than 48 hours from your check-in time, your payment is completely non-refundable.

How do I check in?
That's the most exciting part, right?? Just stop by the hotel after 3pm and we will get you checked in! We know you're happy to arrive, but please don't park in the lot or use the beach access or pool before you've checked in. There is a public beach access adjacent to the Islander that has parking, beach volleyball, drink machines and a bathhouse, so if you just can't wait to get your toes in the sand, head next door to the beach access and join a game of beach volleyball until your room is ready!

What if I need something after "normal business hours"? Does the hotel close?
No! Our lobby has personnel on staff 24 hours a day – so just call down to the front desk, or stop in the lobby. For your convenience, we have a snack and necessity shop in our lobby with most everything you might have forgotten.

So I've heard about hurricanes happening at the coast. What happens if a hurricane comes?
Well, town officials will keep an eye on the circumstances. If they decide to issue a mandatory evacuation, (you MUST leave) you will receive a full refund for the days remaining in your stay. If they issue a voluntary evacuation, and you decide to leave, you can have a credit for a future stay for the remaining days in your stay, but you must use the credit within the next 90 days.

Okay, so now I'm here, and I've loved it here! If you're making me go home, can you tell me how to check out?
If you absolutely have to go back to work, home, or otherwise leave this heavenly abode, just drop by our lobby before 11:00am and turn in your key card and parking passes (if you received them at arrival). If you decide that you want to stay later, just ask our front desk attendant. They will be happy to help you extend your stay.

What if I have a question that isn't answered here?
Simple! Just call our reservations team at 866-627-9340 or e-mail islander@bluewaternc.com and we will be happy to help!
